Ever Changing Crusades

Blogging is one of many forms of communication.  In this world of multiple languages, it is difficult to close the gap of communication.  But with patience and alternate tactics, it is possible to accomplish.

Just an hour ago, I was at the local grocery store in need of buying aspirin (for my heart).  As I was surveying the OTC medicine isle, a Hispanic women (alone) approached me (why me, of all people?)  by asking and motioning "sick baby - throat".  I asked her in Spanish the age of her baby, "una, dos, tres?".  She replied, " 4......4 months".  DARN -  all the OTC infant Tylenol starts their recommended dosage at 2 years old!  As I tried to convey to her that she needed to ask a Doctor for the correct dosage amount to give such a tiny 4 month old baby,  she no comprendes.    I was grasping for alternate resources in ways to communicate with this Hispanic women. AAAHHHHH, it hit me......my salesman, Ros (my blog nick-name for him), is a bilingual Hispanic himself.  I called him from my cell phone, explained to him about this lady that I was with at the grocery store, then handed my phone to her.   I hope she will heed to mine and Ros's information, that she could kill her baby if she gave it an overdose.

Summary.......... ya never know when or where you will be able to lend a helping hand to someone in need...... even if it is only with words.

Will they know?

This morning, on the car radio, I heard this song play as I was previously scanning different stations.  As soon as this song had finished, the reception faded.  I want to share the lyrics with you.

Welcome 2 baby boys

Ya know the young expectant mother, my daughter's friend, that I have made two previous prayer requests postings about ?   (on  21st & 23rd) The info about what's happened since last Thursday.......she was home only one night before the labor re-started and was  re-admitted in the hospital (now at 32 weeks gestation).

TWO PRECIOUS BABY BOYS BORN on Friday, March 24th around 4:00 p.m.

Per the report from the SIL that I received just a while ago..........."Both babies are breathing on their own and doing very well.  They will have to stay in the NICU for another few weeks, but everyone is doing great."  The boys weighed at birth  3 lbs.8 oz.  and 3 lbs.14 oz.

Thanks to everyone for all the prayers and concerns!!!! Hopes to all for a blessed, healthy, joyous life ahead.

OH !!!!  This brings back so many memories.  Here is a pic from the archives of "M" & "L" with their Grandmommies on their first day home, 20 months ago.

March 21st UPDATE-prayer request

First of all.  I would like to sincerely thank everyone that has replied to me (in comments and direct emails) concerning my Prayer Request for my daughter's friend that was having pre-term labor.  I forwarded your copies on to the SIL of the mommy-to-be.

****  UPDATE ****

GOOD NEWS!   The babies are still in mommy's belly.  The labor has stopped for now, the mommy-to-be was sent home (hopefully to bed) after 6 days in the hospital.  The guessed weights for the babies are near 4 lbs. for one & 4 1/2 lbs. for the other one. 

Please continue your wonderful support in prayer that the health will continue for these twins & mommy-to-be..........and the babies will have a April birthday, preferably the 15th or later.

prayer request

A year ago, this month, I started this blog.   At the creation of this blog I was very puzzled on what the main purpose or topic for my "future" blog would be.   But I knew I wanted to try my hand at blogging.  Since I am a grandmother to 2 adorable twin girls, and knowledge about twins in general were completely foreign to my mind before "the girls", and they and their Mom are the lights-of-my-life, I wanted to spread the word about Multiple Births Concerns.  But I knew that topic by itself would be very limited to conger up "original" material.  This is why I named it "ever CHANGING crusades".

Now I am posting a PRAYER REQUEST for one of my daughter's friends.  The young lady is currently expecting with twins, she is at 31 weeks gest.  and the babies "are trying to be born".  She is in the hospital.  You understand.  These precious little ones need a little more time, as much as possible.

Begging for participation from YOU

Yes, I am begging.  I have been reviewing my Site Meter Counter, which shows me the city of each visitor and the length of time they spent roaming around my pages.  Many are less than a minute, which these are likely to be “mistakes”.  But there are many that stay several minutes, looking around.  So I would like to inquire from YOU on  “why” you stopped by.  Please take a moment to mark the following poll.  If there is more than one answer that fits the bill, leave the reasons in Comments.  I have a feeling that some of you I may actually know, but I don’t understand why you don’t ever leave any comments.  Why not?   To my friends that DO leave comments, THANK YOU!!!

As the world turns..........so do generations

As the world turns.........so do the practices and beliefs of parents-to-be and new parents. 

The evolving of differences between generations. 

In my time, it was unheard of for the father-to-be to attend a baby shower*.  Today, he and the other fathers/husbands participate** in the “well wishes” activities.  I applaud the current young generation (age 20’s ,30’s, maybe 40’s) of dads and dads-to-be for their active involvement in their wife’s pregnancy, birthing, and (please don’t stop now) in raising the children.

As each new generation enters adulthood, they reflect back on “what did my parents do that I disagree with?”.  It is predictable to think and believe “I can do better”. 

Extremes range from “a trip to the wood shed will fix any misbehaving child” to “no hand will be laid on my child!”.   Also from “no public affections shown before marriage” to “free, open love”.  ***  I anticipate, as each new generation examines the previous generations’ Good’s and Bad’s, there will someday be a Happy Medium Generation. 

Could the Happy Medium Generation be the young parents of today?   I hope it is. 

* the recent custom in our area are “diaper showers”

***one more example:  "the men (at dining table) and children (in kitchen) eat the meal FIRST,  t_h_e_n    the women can eat afterwards".  So glad that that tradition is long gone! Isn't it?

Insurance companies

Do you ever wonder what the intelligent lever is of the people that process medical Insurance claims?  Here is an example I found on a message board from a mother of twins.  She explains.......

I now always write "twin" in parentheses after each childs' name on insurance claim forms because.............

When [my twins] were babies the insurance company repeatedly denied one claim because they thought they were duplicates.  I spoke to rep of the company over the phone.  This was the conversation:

rep:  "Ma'am,  it's your own fault, you put down the same birthday for both kids."

mom: " That's because they were born on the same day."

(are you ready for this ??????)

rep:  "Now ma'am, how is that possible?"

Congratulations to Twin Parents.........now you have another question added to "the list" .
