This is a dedication to my Mom on "Mother's Day". Since her passing, this time last year, I came across this poem written by her. From the wording, she must have written it a few months before my big brother was born. Fifty-two years ago. Happy Birthday, in a couple of days, to my bro.
Here's the poem she composed:
MY BIRTHDAY
Sunday was such a beautiful day -
Just as if it were one day in May.
February the 8th of nineteen fifty-three;
So, now I'm 24, oh my, oh me.
Mom and Pop came for the gala occasion
And brought with them the cutest dog in the nation.
Only 28 hours they stayed here with us,
What glorious hours, not even a fuss.
A sewing machine, shears, and a big cake, too,
Everything I'd dreamed of, but thought way out of view.
My very dear Jimmy a waffle iron gave,
Waffles we enjoy and once a week crave.
All in all you can see what a birthday I rate.
And next year another will help celebrate,
Won't it be nice to have three in our family?
What shall his name be - Sandy or Randy -
Or maybe a daughter whom we could name Candy.
Whatever it is how happy we'll be,
Far after that day, we two will be three!
Crusade : a Happy Mother's Day wish to mothers everywhere.........the root of life.
