On a previous posting of mine I had encouraged you to get an additional form of identification which could inform emergency personal on Who to Contact & access your medical info. www.myepi.net
Now an alternative, or additional, device to help emergency personal to "identify" you is your Cell Phone. Enter the name "ICE", or "I.C.E.", as the name of the contact, with the actual phone number of the person you wish to have contacted "In Case of Emergency".
I have become skeptical in "true sounding" fwd. emails that I receive. I checked snopes.com I.C.E. about the True / False statements involved in this claim.
Found this article on Seattle News dated July 14, 2005 ......... also this one dated July 26, 2005 on CBS - The Early Show. All relating to coding your cell phone-book with ICE.
Let's reminisce ...... back by popular demand (mine) ....... my March 14, 2005 write-up:
March 14, 2005
who's your contact ?
Today's Crusade........EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION.
Do you have the proper ID in your wallet or purse? I know you have a driver's license.....but look at it........driver's license do not show any info of WHO to contact, or HOW, in case of an emergency of Y O U.
First I want to tell you a true story. It's of a man which was living alone. He always called his mother once a week, always on Sunday morning. He had neighbors that knew him, but not in close communication with them. Then a Sunday came when the mother did not receive her weekly telephone call from him. She waited all Sunday. The son never called. Eventually, the mother and her other son started making various phone calls.....son's home, son's neighbors, police, and hospitals. The results: the "missing" son had had a car wreak the previous Thursday, not very far from his own house, and he was currently in the local hospital........on life support. There is no need to finish this story with the rest of details......but the fact is, this man was alone in the hospital for at least 72 hours, with no family member with him. He did not have information in his wallet which would tell the emergency personal who to notify.
How could this situation had been different?
You guessed it, I have found the answer.. ....go to www.myepi.net and register. You can put as much or as little information you like. Not only will the card help in getting your loved ones notified, it can also inform medical personnel of your medical history. At the end of registration, you have the options to either submit to have a card mailed to you.....or print now for immediate use.
Then.....PLEASE....... PLACE THE CARD IN YOUR WALLET
Everyone......have a good day......my next Crusade.......hopefully... less morbid.

This is really timely! I know that my parents worry about me even though I am an adult. Being in a new city has me thinking about things like this. Thanks for the revisit.
